Special Service Planned in Memory of GySgt Robert Gilbert
[22 Mar 10]
I know it is short notice but but the Bible Baptist Churchin Richfield is sponsoring a special service in memory of fallen Marine Gunnery Sgt. Robert Gilbert, in honor of the members and veterans of the United States Military and Reserve Forces.
GySgt Gilbert is a Revere High School, Class of 2000, graduate and the son of Richfield Police Officer Bob Gilbert. He was wounded in Afghanistan when a sniper's bullet pierced his helmet and died March 8 on his 28th birthday at the National Nabal Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The service will be 7:30 PM, Wednesday, March 24, at the Holiday Inn Express, 5171 Brecksville Rd., Richfield, OH.
Also, if you can make it, you can pay your respects as GySgt Gilbert's body is brought home Tuesday, March 23. His body will be passing by the Richfield Veteran's Memorial, at the intersection of Broadview and Streetsboro Roads (St. Rts. 176 and 303) sometime after 2:00 PM.
Obama in Strongsville Monday, March 15!
[15 Mar 10]
Today was Buzzard Day in Hinckley. Kind of appropriate that President Obama swooped down into Strongsville today.
Anyway, A couple of us got there about 10:30 in the morning and stayed until after 3:00 PM. It was cloudy. It was cold. It was drizzly. It was exhilarating! Ralph King, of Cleveland Tea Party, said that they counted at least 650 protesters.
Toward the end we had one Obama supporter show up wearing a shirt that said, "Ban Republican Marriage." When asked what that meant he said, "So they don't reproduce." (Here's a thought: He apparently took for granted that most Republicans marry in order to reproducing. Does that mean most of those who reproduce without the benefit of marriage are not Republicans?)
We then started talking about what a blessing it is to live in a country where we have the right to protest no matter what side of the issue you're on and how many places where you can be thrown in jail and even killed for daring to dissent. One older lady then said to the youthful Obama supporter, "I hope you still have free speech when you get to be my age." To which the young man mumbled something along the lines of, "Not if you guys are in charge."
Of course, he didn't say "you guys," he used a profane term. And after we called him on his use of lewd, pronographic terminology to the lady he slunk off.
Did we make a difference? Probably not to the President. Probably not to the Congress. But, judging by the thumbs up, salutes, and honking horns of the cars and trucks driving by on Rt. 82, we made a difference to someone. And, maybe even to a certain young Obama supporter.
Salt and light.
Is There Not a Cause?
[24 Feb 10]
I recently came across a quote from Al Capone: "You can get more of what you want with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word."
Apparently the infamous Chicago gangster found that a credible threat behind his kind words helped with his income redistribution efforts. A look at the various health reform schemes, cap and tax scams, tax increases, and government power grabs put forward show that others have learned from Capone's example.
We don't have to sit back and do nothing. Together, we can do something to push back the forces of statism. Get informed and get involved.
If you are interested in building up a Tea Party group in the Richfield, Ohio, area please get in touch with Al Davis.

250+ Turn Out in Richfield!
[14 Sep 09]
Our tea party was a tremendous success! People kept asking us how many we expected to have at our Richfield Patriot Day Tea Party. We started out hoping to break 100 but really had no idea. By 4:00 the cars started streaming in, filling up two lots with a hundred cars and then spilling over into an adjacent lot and along the drive. We also had a number of people arrive on foot and bicycle. We even had a heckler, though most people never knew he was there. A guy rode by on a bicycle shouting, "Go, Obama!", to which we can readily agree: "GO,Obama!", as in "Go away, Obama!" All told, we believe there were just over 250 attending.
Pastor Al Davis of theBible Baptist Church in Richfield moderated the program and led us off with a prayer, concluding without apology "In Jesus Name." Russ Scarvelli, of Operation Firing for Effect then sang the Star Spangled Banner. Following the national anthem, Joe Gayner, one of the Richfield Patriot Day Tea Party organizers, and his son, Nick, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
After some opening remarks we recognized the many veterans who were present as well as all past and present police, fire, and rescue workers. Then, in honor of those who were killed on September 11, 2001, Kim Davis, another of the Richfield Patriot Day Tea Party organizers, read a special 9/11 time line, followed by a moment of silence.
It is taking some time but we do have a few pictures of the tea party available at our picture gallery. We hope to have some more available soon.
Thanks again to everyone who helped and participated. We could not have done it without you!
